The Lord commissions Ezekiel to be a prophet to the people of Israel. God describes the nation as rebellious, stubborn, and resistant to His authority. For generations, the people have turned away from God’s commandments and continued in disobedience.
Despite their rebellion, God sends Ezekiel to proclaim His message. Whether the people choose to listen or refuse, they will know that a prophet has been among them.
God warns Ezekiel that his ministry will be difficult. He compares the people to briars, thorns, and scorpions, symbolizing opposition, hostility, and resistance. Yet Ezekiel is instructed not to fear them or be intimidated by their reactions.

This scroll contains God’s message concerning coming judgment upon Israel because of their continued rebellion and sin.
The chapter ends with Ezekiel preparing to receive and proclaim the message God has given him.
